Medieval legend claims that demons, both male and female, sexually prey on human beings.
The male demon is known as an incubus and the female is the succubus. They generally prey upon the victim when they are sleeping, though it has been reported that females have been attacked while fully lucid. One such event was covered in the book and subsequent movie, The Entity.
There are variations of this sexual demonic legend. In Zanzibar, what is known as the "Popo Bawa" generally preys on men and only in their own beds. In the Chilo‚ Province of Chile, a wretched little dwarf, known as El Trauco, woos young naive women and then seduces them. Ịn Hungary, a Liderc is a demonic sexual predator that flies under the cover of darkness and will appear as a wispy apparition or a fiery light.
Any one of the above succubus' can be blamed for unexpected or unwanted pregnancies, especially in unmarried women, though one can imagine this might be a convenient fabrication to get out of unsavory rumors!
Some confuse the incubus with the legendary "Old Hag" syndrome but it is not. The Old Hag episode is usually restricted to a feeling of great pressure on the chest and not a ghostly sexual encounter. Another difference between the incubus/succubus encounter from the Old Hag is that the former is not always unpleasant while the Old Hag is mostly accompanied by a feeling of death, suffocation and just trying to survive.
Because the incubus and succubus are generally experienced during the sleep state or coming in and out of it, experts feel that it is an imaginary experience and not a real one, however, telling this to the person who has just gone through it, they find that hard to believe as it feels as real as intercourse itself. Who can say for certain if these events are real or imagined but until you've experienced yourself it's hard to determine or judge.

My bestfriend and I had the scariest experience na din, about two years ago, hilig pa namin tumakas sa gabi nun. One time, madaling araw na, nagyaya ung bestfriend ko na gumimik kasama mga boyfriends namin. Were living in a 3-storey apartment at that time. Ung stairs adjoining our 1st floor to the second floor is made of concrete but the stairs from the second floor to the third floor is made of metal so you would know at the moment if the person who's going down the stairs is at. Our bathroom is located at the 1st and 3rd floor, so para di na magising ung mga guardians namin, sa 1st floor na bathroom na kami naligo ng sabay. We were inside the bathroom na, and were both nagyoyosi nun nung me marinig kami na may bumababa galing sa third floor, anlakas pa ng yabag ng paa, napahinto kaming dalawa tapos pinakinggan namin kung san papunta ung tao, kasi akala namin ung nanay nya na yun, baka kasi kami mabuking kami na tumatakas ng madaling araw.
Narinig namin na dumiretso ung taong un papunta sa hallway na palapit sa hagdan papuntang 1st floor. Huminto ung mga yabag, nung time na sa tingin ko eh nasa tuktok na sya ng hagdan namin. After a couple of seconds nagstart syang bumaba ng hagdan. Our bathroom is at the foot of that stairs so alam namin na he's heading towards our location. nakita namin ung shadow nya na nakatayo sa likod ng pinto ng banyo. My friend shouted, "Sino yan? magbabanyo ka ba? naghihinaw lang kami, wait lang!" Pagtingin namin sa shadow nya, bigla na lang nawala. Natakot kami, nagtapis kami tas bumilang pa ko ng 3 bago ko binuksan ung pinto. Pagkabukas ko, walang namang tao sa sala. Sa takot, nagunahan pa kami tumakbo papuntang kwarto. Di na kami nakagimik nun. We stayed on our bed til morning, as in walang tulugan talaga. We asked everybody in the apartment kung me bumaba ng gabi, wala naman daw. Dun namin nalaman na meron pala talagang ghost na nagpaparamdam sa bahay namin, pero di naman sya nananakit.. - I THINK THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL INCUBUS..
